Plastic Bag Bans-A Great Marketing Opportunity

Many California cities and counties have recently passed ordinances that ban single-use plastic bags at certain stores.  These ordinances generally require stores to provide their customers with recyclable paper, compostable, or reusable bags for a fee of at least 10 cents each.

There is an increasing trend in California to adopt plastic bag bans.  Counties participating in these bans include San Francisco, Alameda, Los Angeles, Marin, Santa Cruz and Mendocino.

Support for these bans has grown considerably nationwide, with more than 80 cities and counties adopting plastic bag bans.  With the speed at which lawmakers are adopting and implementing new plastic ban ordinances, many consumers will need to switch to reusable bags that they carry into the store themselves.

This consumer need is a wonderful marketing opportunity for most businesses.  Non-woven grocery bags with your company's logo are an inexpensive and effect advertising tool.   Show your employees and customers that you can about the environment by giving out reusable totes at your next meeting or event or trade show.  Experience great exposure as these bags get carried from store to store.
